Barista
Job Description
The barista is responsible for conducting daily Back-of-House (BOH) tasks, including organizing dry shelves, arranging the beverage store according to the First-In-First-Out (FIFO) standard, and keeping the BOH clean and tidy at all times in line with management standards and guidelines. The role includes greeting patrons, escorting them to their tables, presenting the menu, explaining menu offerings, and making recommendations based on individual preferences, as well as upselling when opportunities arise. The barista will coordinate with all kitchen and serving staff, take and serve orders attentively and efficiently, deliver checks, receive payments, provide correct change, and deliver orders to homes within the compound. Additional responsibilities include preparing and serving coffee, tea, and specialty beverages according to standard recipes; operating coffee machines and equipment such as espresso machines and grinders; handling cash and point-of-sale transactions; maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the café, including counters, seating areas, and equipment; replenishing supplies and monitoring inventory levels; following food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards; addressing customer inquiries and resolving concerns professionally; assisting with opening and closing procedures; and performing any other reasonable tasks required by the company. The requirements for this position are a high school diploma and/or professional certificate, a minimum of three years of experience as a barista in an upscale or fine dining restaurant, and a valid and transferable iqama. Food safety training is preferred. Candidates must have excellent customer service skills, the ability to multitask, work well under pressure, resolve problems, and appease dissatisfied customers, good verbal and written communication skills in English, and good grooming standards with a professional appearance.
