Job Description

The Hydraulic Technician is responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of hydraulic systems, including installation, commissioning, diagnostic troubleshooting, and precision repair, with the objective of ensuring the reliability and safety of hydraulic machinery across industrial, mobile, and marine applications while minimizing equipment downtime through proactive maintenance and expert technical support. The role includes servicing hydraulic accessories such as pumps, motors, and valves; installing, commissioning, and servicing hydraulic systems and components for industrial, mobile, and marine applications; troubleshooting, servicing, and performing preventive maintenance on hydraulic power packs used in deck machinery and cargo-handling equipment; troubleshooting and repairing various centrifugal and positive-displacement pumps and compressors; and using precision tools and diagnostic equipment, including flow meters, pressure gauges, and filtration units, to test and verify system performance. The technician must read, understand, and interpret hydraulic schematics, system diagrams, and technical manuals to ensure accurate diagnostics, and must ensure the flushing, filtration, and pressure testing of hydraulic pipes and hose assemblies before commissioning. Responsibilities also include managing fluid and pneumatic systems, including the sales, assembly, and maintenance of hoses and fittings; conducting site inspections to assess equipment condition and recommending necessary service or upgrade solutions; performing lighting and maintenance of heavy hydraulic equipment such as cranes, forklifts, oilfield equipment, and construction equipment; maintaining and repairing fluid and gas flow-control valves, including gate, globe, butterfly, ball, and check valves; providing on-site and remote technical support to clients to ensure minimal downtime and high system reliability; managing stock maintenance and stores and coordinating with the team to ensure accurate delivery of customer requirements; preparing bills of materials for hydraulic systems and maintaining detailed inspection records and reports; strictly adhering to customer requirements and safety protocols specific to shipyard, oil and gas, and industrial operations; handling customer complaints appropriately and according to defined systems and ensuring that corrective and preventive actions are taken wherever required; coordinating with the relevant staff to ensure prompt and timely deliveries; ensuring proper tracking of delivery orders and invoices; complying with all company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes and ensuring that they are communicated and implemented within the team; and carrying out any related activities assigned by the Line Manager or Head of Department. The qualifications for this position include a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, a Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, an Industrial Training Institute qualification, or a university degree in Mechanical Engineering, together with 4 to 14 years of proven experience in hydraulic field sales, quality, or production. Candidates must be able to drive a car and handle customers, have basic computer skills including Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel, understand client needs and present solutions, be self-learning and able to manage according to the work environment, and have knowledge of hydraulic circuit design, root cause analysis, and ISO 9001:2015 internal auditing. Strong decision-making, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities, excellent customer service skills, the ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment, sound and accurate judgment with the ability to provide correct information about hydraulic subjects, well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work in a multicultural environment with colleagues around the world and across multiple time zones are also required.
