Electrical Estimation Engineer
Job Description
An expert multi-disciplinary Electrical Estimation Engineer is required for a newly established electrical contracting company in Yanbu on a full-time basis. The engineer must have strong experience in electrical estimation, BOQ preparation, quantity takeoff, pricing, design support, and costing, with the ability to provide accurate and practical electrical estimates based on current market prices. The required knowledge and skills include electrical BOQs and quantity takeoffs; material and labour estimation; current market prices and unit rates; cable and wire sizing; estimation for distribution boards, main distribution boards, sub-main distribution boards, and other panels; breakers, isolators, and protection systems; lighting and power systems; conduits, cable trays, and trunking; earthing and lightning protection; load schedules and load calculations; voltage-drop and short-circuit calculations; generator, transformer, and UPS requirements; ELV systems when required; tender pricing and cost analysis; comparison of material brands and specifications; and estimation of installation, testing, and commissioning costs. Each estimate must include a detailed breakdown showing the item description, specification, unit, quantity, unit price, total price, and remarks. The engineer must consistently verify quantities and calculations, identify missing items, and clearly state the currency, location, price date or source, and assumptions used for pricing. When drawings or specifications are provided, the engineer must analyse them professionally and prepare a complete electrical estimate.
Requirements
- Strong experience in electrical estimation, BOQ preparation, quantity takeoff, pricing, design support, and costing.
- Knowledge of current market prices and unit rates.
- Ability to prepare electrical BOQs and quantity takeoffs.
- Ability to estimate material and labour costs.
- Knowledge of cable and wire sizing.
- Knowledge of DB, MDB, SMDB, and panel estimation.
- Knowledge of breakers, isolators, and protection systems.
- Knowledge of lighting and power systems.
- Knowledge of conduits, cable trays, and trunking.
- Knowledge of earthing and lightning protection.
- Ability to prepare load schedules and load calculations.
- Ability to perform voltage-drop and short-circuit calculations.
- Knowledge of generator, transformer, and UPS requirements.
- Knowledge of ELV systems when required.
- Knowledge of tender pricing and cost analysis.
- Ability to compare material brands and specifications.
- Knowledge of installation, testing, and commissioning cost estimation.
- Ability to verify quantities and calculations, identify missing items, analyse drawings and specifications, and document pricing assumptions clearly.
