Process Commissioning Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Process Commissioning Engineer for a contract/project assignment in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on an Oil & Gas EPC project. The successful candidate will have strong Oil & Gas commissioning experience and proven exposure to Saudi Aramco projects, and will be responsible for planning, coordinating and executing process commissioning activities to ensure that facilities are safely and efficiently prepared for start-up and handover. Responsibilities include planning and executing process commissioning and pre-commissioning activities for Oil & Gas facilities; reviewing approved engineering deliverables, P&IDs, process datasheets, commissioning procedures and project specifications; developing and reviewing commissioning plans, procedures, checklists and system or subsystem dossiers; coordinating with Engineering, Construction, QA/QC, HSE, Operations and other commissioning disciplines; verifying that systems are mechanically complete and ready for commissioning; supporting flushing, cleaning, pressure testing, leak testing, line-up and system preparation activities; conducting process system walkdowns and identifying outstanding items and punch points; coordinating equipment and process system start-up activities with Operations and client representatives; participating in functional testing, performance testing and plant start-up; troubleshooting process-related issues during commissioning and start-up; ensuring compliance with Saudi Aramco standards, project specifications, approved procedures, project HSE requirements and permit-to-work procedures; preparing commissioning records, test packs, punch lists, progress reports and handover documentation; coordinating with vendors and specialist contractors; supporting performance testing, reliability runs and final system handover; and participating in daily commissioning meetings while providing progress and status updates to the Commissioning Manager. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or an equivalent field and typically have 8–12+ years of Oil & Gas experience, including significant experience in commissioning, process pre-commissioning and plant start-up. Experience with Saudi Aramco standards, specifications and project procedures, as well as strong EPC or EPCIC project experience, is required. Experience in one or more of gas processing plants, gas compression facilities, Oil & Gas processing facilities, refineries, petrochemical plants, pipelines, gas facilities, utilities or offsites is highly desirable. Candidates should have a strong understanding of P&IDs, process systems, equipment and commissioning methodologies; experience coordinating multidisciplinary commissioning activities; good knowledge of HSE, permit-to-work, SIMOPS and commissioning safety requirements; strong communication and coordination skills with client and Saudi Aramco representatives; strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities; the ability to work effectively in a multicultural EPC project environment and under project schedule and start-up pressure; good English communication and reporting skills; and proficiency in reviewing technical documentation and commissioning dossiers. Direct experience on Saudi Aramco EPC or EPCM projects is strongly preferred, while Aramco-approved or previously approved candidates and candidates with relevant Aramco CBT or qualification records, where applicable to the project, are highly desirable. Previous greenfield or brownfield commissioning experience is an advantage.
