Senior Electrical Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer, excluding Lebanese applicants, with more than 10 years of experience in the operation and maintenance of Tier III data center facilities. The successful candidate will oversee, manage, and troubleshoot all electrical, mechanical, and electromechanical systems and critical support systems across the data center to ensure maximum uptime, reliability, and safety, while supporting capacity planning and power load calculations for IT expansion. Responsibilities include leading the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all electrical and mechanical systems; managing critical power systems, including UPS units, generators, automatic transfer switches, synchronization systems, low- and medium-voltage switchgear, PDUs, transformers, and battery banks; operating and maintaining ring main units and associated medium- and low-voltage distribution equipment; overseeing mechanical and cooling systems, including CRAC and CRAH units, chillers, and related controls; managing the fuel system, including bulk storage, transfer systems, day tanks, and generator supply, while coordinating refueling and monitoring; operating, monitoring, and troubleshooting the Building Management System and Central Control and Monitoring System; managing the leak detection system across critical areas, responding promptly to alerts, and mitigating risks; maintaining load blockers and gate barrier systems governing facility and vehicle access control; overseeing the Public Address system for facility-wide communication and emergency announcements; and operating, maintaining, and monitoring all fire detection and suppression systems, including the Gent fire alarm through the Winmag workstation, VESDA aspirating smoke detection through the VESDA workstation, and NOVEC clean-agent suppression through the Rescue workstation, while ensuring testing, inspection, and regulatory compliance. The role also involves performing power load calculations for new IT load expansion within existing racks; assessing available capacity at rack, PDU, UPS, and feeder levels to safely accommodate additional IT load; evaluating rack power density, phase balancing, and the impact of N+1 and 2N redundancy before deploying new equipment; calculating the incremental electrical and cooling demand associated with expanded IT load and validating available headroom; producing load studies, updating single-line diagrams, and preparing documentation to support expansion approvals; managing overall capacity planning and power distribution to support current and future demand; ensuring continuous 24/7 availability in line with Tier III concurrent maintainability requirements; developing, reviewing, and implementing Methods of Procedure, Standard Operating Procedures, and Emergency Operating Procedures; conducting root-cause analysis on faults and failures and leading corrective and preventive maintenance activities; planning and supervising preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and lifespan; coordinating with vendors, contractors, and original equipment manufacturers for maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and commissioning activities; ensuring compliance with electrical safety standards, lockout/tagout requirements, and applicable NFPA 70E, NEC, and IEC codes; monitoring and responding to alarms and abnormal conditions through BMS and CCMS platforms; supporting incident management, participating in an on-call rotation, and leading restoration during critical events; and mentoring junior engineers and technicians while contributing to training and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
Requirements
- Experience
- 10 Years
- 10+ years of experience in the operation and maintenance of Tier III data center facilities.
- Experience with data center electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, cooling, fire detection, fire suppression, fuel, access control, communication, and monitoring systems.
- Ability to perform power load calculations, capacity planning, load studies, phase balancing, redundancy assessments, and electrical and cooling demand calculations for IT expansion.
- Ability to develop, review, and implement MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs.
- Experience conducting root-cause analysis and leading corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance activities.
- Experience coordinating with vendors, contractors, and OEMs for maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and commissioning.
- Ability to support incident management, participate in an on-call rotation, and lead restoration during critical events.
- Ability to mentor junior engineers and technicians and contribute to training and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
