Electrical Site Engineer
Job Description
The Electrical Site Engineer will manage electrical site activities to ensure safe execution, quality workmanship, efficient use of resources, and completion within the approved schedule and budget. The role includes planning and supervising site works covering MV/LV cable installation, duct banks, trenches, manholes, earthing, street lighting, RMUs, transformers, and substations within the assigned scope; reviewing approved drawings, specifications, and method statements, identifying discrepancies, and raising technical queries before execution; managing cable pulling by verifying route readiness, drum allocation, pulling equipment, cable bending radius, and allowable pulling tension to prevent cable damage; developing daily and weekly activity schedules, setting measurable targets, and coordinating work fronts to achieve project milestones; allocating manpower, equipment, and materials effectively, monitoring productivity, and minimising idle time, waste, and rework; coordinating with other disciplines to resolve clashes with civil works and underground utilities and to arrange access, permits, and inspections with the main contractor and relevant authorities; controlling materials by verifying approvals, quantities, delivery dates, storage conditions, and availability before each activity starts; implementing inspection and test plans, arranging inspections before backfilling or concealing works, and enforcing excavation, lifting, cable-pulling, and electrical safety requirements; supporting testing and commissioning by coordinating cable testing, earthing tests, equipment checks, and termination inspections with qualified personnel and closing defects before energisation; and maintaining daily progress reports, installed quantities, resource records, site photographs, and delay records, while preparing as-built drawings and supporting final handover documentation.
