Diesel Mechanic
Job Description
An urgent requirement exists for a diesel mechanic. Key responsibilities include performing preventive and corrective maintenance on diesel generators, diagnosing and repairing diesel engines in trucks and forklifts, and inspecting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. The role includes troubleshooting engine, transmission, brake, and fuel-system issues; conducting routine servicing such as oil changes, filter replacement, and lubrication; repairing or replacing defective parts, including injectors, pumps, belts, and batteries; maintaining service records; preparing maintenance reports; ensuring that all equipment operates safely and efficiently; following company safety procedures and industry standards; and responding to emergency breakdowns when required. Requirements include a diploma or technical certification in mechanical or diesel technology, 3 to 5 years of experience in diesel engine repair, and experience working with generators, heavy trucks, and forklifts. Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems, the ability to read technical manuals and wiring diagrams, good problem-solving and diagnostic skills, and the ability to work under pressure and in outdoor environments are required. A valid driving licence is mandatory, and transferable sponsorship is required.
