Network Security Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Network Security Engineer to join a large-scale enterprise Network Security and Infrastructure Optimization Project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in enterprise firewall administration, network security, IP networking, troubleshooting and infrastructure optimization. Responsibilities include analyzing, optimizing and rationalizing enterprise firewall security policies; reviewing firewall rules, objects, network address translation policies and security configurations; identifying unused, redundant and obsolete security rules; supporting network security migration and optimization activities; analyzing traffic and hit data and validating rules with application and infrastructure owners; participating in controlled implementation through formal Change Request processes; supporting network segmentation, IP migration and security standardization; troubleshooting complex network connectivity and security issues; preparing technical documentation, implementation plans and rollback procedures; and coordinating with Network Operations, Security, Infrastructure and Application teams. Strong knowledge of Palo Alto Networks is highly preferred, together with experience in one or more of Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet FortiGate, Cisco ASA or Firepower, Check Point and Juniper SRX. The candidate should have a good understanding of firewall policies and security zones, NAT and PAT, VPN technologies, routing and switching, TCP/IP and the OSI model, VLANs and network segmentation, subnetting and IP addressing, public and private IP ranges, IP schemas and network standardization, DNS and DHCP, MPLS and enterprise connectivity, network troubleshooting and packet analysis, and network monitoring and log analysis. Experience with tools such as Panorama, Splunk, SolarWinds or similar enterprise monitoring and security platforms is advantageous. Applicants should have at least five years of enterprise network or security experience, strong hands-on firewall administration and troubleshooting experience, experience in large enterprise or data centre environments, an understanding of application dependencies and traffic flows, experience working under formal change-management processes, strong analytical and documentation skills, good communication and stakeholder-management abilities, and the ability to work independently as well as with cross-functional teams. The role is based in an enterprise or data centre environment in Riyadh, and immediate or short-notice availability is preferred.
