Job Description
We are hiring an experienced and motivated Purchaser specializing in fresh fruits and vegetables for a full-time position in Manama. The successful candidate will source and purchase fresh fruits and vegetables from local and international suppliers, negotiate prices, payment terms and delivery schedules, maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers, develop new supplier networks, monitor market prices, product availability and seasonal trends, ensure that products meet the required quality, freshness and company standards, coordinate with suppliers, warehouse and operations teams to ensure timely deliveries, monitor purchasing costs and identify cost-saving opportunities, prepare and maintain purchase orders, quotations and supplier records, follow up on orders, deliveries, shortages and quality issues, and ensure sufficient stock availability while minimizing wastage and over-purchasing. Applicants must have 3 to 5 years of purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in fresh fruits and vegetables, food distribution, fast-moving consumer goods or wholesale, along with good knowledge of fresh produce suppliers and market prices, strong negotiation and communication skills, the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, and good English communication skills.
