Job Description
The Accountant role requires a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, along with a minimum of five years of relevant accounting experience. A professional certification such as ACCA, CMA, CPA, or an equivalent qualification is a plus, and prior experience in a trading, distribution, or similar commercial company is preferred. The candidate should have strong knowledge of accounting principles and IFRS, with proficiency in preparing financial statements, reconciliations, and month-end and year-end closing. Experience with VAT compliance and filing in accordance with Bahrain NBR requirements is required, along with skills in accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and cash flow management. Proficiency in an accounting or ERP system such as Tally, QuickBooks, SAP, or a similar system is required, as are strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and basic financial modelling. Personal attributes should include high attention to detail and accuracy, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently and meet deadlines, particularly during closing periods, and good communication skills for liaising with auditors, banks, and management. Trustworthiness and the ability to handle confidential financial information are essential. Familiarity with Bahrain labour law and WPS payroll requirements is a plus, and experience liaising with external auditors and government or regulatory bodies is required.
