Job Description
Job Overview We are looking for an experienced and organized Purchasing Officer – Construction to manage day-to-day purchasing and procurement activities for our construction projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing construction materials, obtaining competitive quotations, coordinating with suppliers, preparing purchase orders, and ensuring timely delivery of materials to project sites. Key Responsibilities - Manage the complete purchasing process from receiving purchase requisitions to quotation, purchase order, and delivery. - Source construction materials, MEP materials, tools, equipment, consumables, and site requirements. - Identify and maintain a database of reliable suppliers and vendors. - Request quotations and prepare quotation/price comparison sheets. - Compare prices, quality, specifications, payment terms, and delivery schedules. - Negotiate with suppliers to obtain competitive prices and favorable terms. - Prepare and process Purchase Orders (POs/LPOs), RFQs, delivery notes, GRNs, and related documents. - Follow up with suppliers regarding order confirmations, availability, and delivery schedules. - Coordinate closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, Site Supervisors, Storekeepers, and Accounts. - Ensure purchased materials meet approved specifications, quantities, quality requirements, and project timelines. - Monitor pending purchase orders and upcoming material requirements. - Verify delivered materials against purchase orders and delivery documents. - Coordinate returns or replacements for damaged, incorrect, or incomplete materials. - Assist the Accounts Department with supplier invoice verification and reconciliation. - Maintain purchase registers, supplier records, quotation files, open-order reports, and procurement tracking records. - Support management in identifying cost-saving opportunities and reliable suppliers. Requirements - 2–4 years of experience in purchasing/procurement, preferably within the construction industry. - Strong knowledge of construction materials, MEP materials, tools, equipment, and consumables. - Previous experience dealing with suppliers and vendors in the Bahrain construction market is highly preferred. - Good understanding of RFQs, quotations, POs/LPOs, delivery notes, GRNs, invoices, and procurement documentation. - Strong negotiation, communication, coordination, and supplier follow-up skills. - Good working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and Outlook. - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. - Ability to manage multiple suppliers, purchase orders, and urgent site requirements. - Experience with ERP/procurement software is an advantage. - Must be currently available in Bahrain. - Immediate joiners are strongly preferred. Preferred Candidates - Candidates with previous experience working with construction contractors, fit-out companies, MEP companies, engineering companies, or building material suppliers will be given priority. - Candidates with good knowledge of Bahrain-based construction suppliers and material markets are highly preferred.
Requirements

- Experience dealing with suppliers and vendors in the Bahrain construction market is highly preferred.
- Good understanding of RFQs, quotations, POs/LPOs, delivery notes, GRNs, invoices, and procurement documentation.
- Strong negotiation, communication, coordination, supplier follow-up, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Good working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to manage multiple suppliers, purchase orders, and urgent site requirements.
- Experience with ERP or procurement software is an advantage.
- Immediate joiners are strongly preferred.
- Priority for candidates with experience in construction contracting, fit-out, MEP, engineering, or building material supply companies.
- Good knowledge of Bahrain-based construction suppliers and material markets is highly preferred.
