Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Procurement Officer for a full-time position in Bahrain to manage the end-to-end sourcing and purchasing of building and construction materials from international and local suppliers. The candidate must have a minimum of three years of relevant procurement or purchasing experience involving building materials, with proven experience in both international imports and local procurement; experience in the construction, contracting, building materials, or a related industry, preferably in Bahrain or the GCC, is highly preferred. Responsibilities include sourcing materials according to project requirements, specifications, quality standards, and delivery schedules; identifying, evaluating, and developing reliable local and overseas suppliers; obtaining and comparing quotations; negotiating prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, and other commercial conditions; preparing and processing purchase orders in line with company policies and approved requirements; managing international imports, including supplier coordination, shipping arrangements, documentation, customs clearance, and delivery; coordinating with freight forwarders, clearing agents, transport companies, warehouses, and suppliers to ensure the timely receipt of imported materials; handling local purchasing and coordinating supplier deliveries across Bahrain; monitoring market prices, availability, lead times, and fluctuations in the cost of building materials; ensuring that purchased materials meet the required specifications, quality standards, quantities, and agreed delivery schedules; following up on outstanding purchase orders and resolving delays, shortages, damages, or discrepancies; maintaining strong supplier relationships and negotiating favourable commercial terms; identifying alternative suppliers and cost-saving opportunities; coordinating procurement requirements and deliveries with project, warehouse, finance, accounts, and management teams; maintaining accurate records of quotations, purchase orders, invoices, supplier details, import documents, and delivery records; monitoring supplier performance and conducting periodic supplier evaluations; assisting in maintaining optimum inventory levels and avoiding stock shortages or excess inventory; and ensuring that procurement activities comply with company policies and applicable Bahrain regulations. The candidate should have good knowledge of building materials, including steel, cement, blocks, tiles, sanitaryware, plumbing materials, electrical materials, hardware, tools, and other construction-related products, as well as practical knowledge of import procedures, shipping documentation, customs clearance, and logistics. Strong supplier-sourcing, negotiation, communication, coordination, and follow-up skills, good analytical and cost-comparison abilities, proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and familiarity with procurement or ERP systems are required. The ability to work under pressure and manage multiple procurement requirements simultaneously is essential. Knowledge of the Bahrain and GCC supplier market is an advantage, as is a valid Bahrain driving licence and Arabic language ability; the candidate must have a good command of English. The ideal candidate will have strong existing supplier contacts in Bahrain and overseas, understand the building materials market, be able to negotiate competitive prices, and independently manage procurement from supplier selection through delivery to the site or warehouse.

- Good analytical and cost-comparison abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, and familiarity with procurement or ERP systems.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple procurement requirements simultaneously.
- Knowledge of the Bahrain and GCC supplier market is an advantage.
- Strong existing supplier contacts in Bahrain and overseas are preferred.
- Understanding of the building materials market and ability to manage procurement independently from supplier selection through delivery to site or warehouse.
- A valid Bahrain driving licence is an advantage.
