Construction Safety Officer
Job Description
Monitor and maintain health and safety standards across construction sites. Ensure that workers, subcontractors, and site activities comply with company safety procedures and applicable health and safety requirements. Conduct daily site inspections; identify unsafe conditions, hazards, and work practices; ensure the correct use of personal protective equipment; conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, site orientations, and awareness sessions; and prepare and maintain risk assessments, method statements, safety checklists, and inspection reports. Monitor high-risk activities, including working at height, lifting operations, excavation, scaffolding, electrical works, hot works, and confined spaces. Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, recommend corrective actions, and follow up on corrective and preventive actions until closure. Ensure that construction equipment, tools, access areas, scaffolding, and work areas meet safety requirements. Coordinate with project engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and workers on safety matters. Maintain records of safety inspections, training, incidents, permits, and corrective actions. Assist with emergency preparedness and response procedures, promote a strong safety culture throughout the construction site, report serious safety violations immediately, recommend appropriate corrective measures, and ensure compliance with applicable Bahrain requirements, company HSE procedures, and relevant industry safety standards.
Requirements
- Education
- Diploma Or Bachelor's Degree In Occupational Health And Safety, Engineering, Construction Management, Or A Related Field.
- Experience
- 2 – 3 Years
- Diploma or bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a Safety Officer in the construction industry.
- Construction site experience.
- Knowledge of risk assessments, toolbox talks, incident reporting, and safety inspections.
- Knowledge of PPE, working-at-height safety, scaffolding, lifting operations, excavation, and other construction safety practices.
- NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, or an equivalent safety certification is preferred.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with site teams and subcontractors.
- Good knowledge of safety documentation and reporting.
- Strong knowledge of construction site HSE practices.
- Good observation and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to identify hazards and recommend practical corrective actions.
- Good written and verbal English communication skills.
- Ability to conduct safety inductions and toolbox talks.
