Pastry Chef
Job Description
A Pastry Chef is required to support the pastry chef by preparing ingredients, making doughs, and baking pastries in accordance with recipes, hygiene requirements, and quality standards. The role includes measuring, mixing, and preparing ingredients for cakes, pastries, and desserts while accurately following recipes and preparation lists; assisting with baking, shaping, and decorating pastries under supervision; maintaining cleanliness at the pastry station; following handwashing and personal protective equipment protocols; controlling temperatures, preventing cross-contamination, and complying with allergen-safety requirements; keeping the pastry area organised, clean, and stocked; assisting the kitchen brigade during peak service; ensuring that all products meet established quality standards; adapting to seasonal changes in ingredients; cooperating with colleagues, responding promptly to instructions, and maintaining a positive, professional attitude. The qualifications for this role include a culinary diploma or certification in baking or pastry arts, or equivalent experience; hands-on kitchen experience, such as in a commis or entry-level pastry role; and knowledge of menu items, daily specials, and pastry standards.
