Procurement Officer

Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced and organized Procurement Officer – Construction to manage purchasing and procurement activities for construction projects. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of construction materials, MEP materials, tools, equipment, consumables, local suppliers, purchasing procedures, and procurement documentation, and will coordinate closely with suppliers, site teams, engineers, project managers, stores, and Accounts to ensure that materials are sourced at competitive prices and delivered to project sites on time. Key Responsibilities include managing the complete procurement cycle from purchase requisition through purchase order and delivery; sourcing construction materials, MEP materials, tools, equipment, consumables, and other site requirements; identifying and maintaining a database of reliable suppliers and subcontractors; requesting, obtaining, and comparing supplier quotations; preparing quotation comparison sheets and recommending suitable suppliers based on price, quality, availability, and delivery time; negotiating prices, payment terms, discounts, and delivery schedules; preparing and processing Purchase Orders, Local Purchase Orders, Requests for Quotation, and related procurement documents; coordinating with site engineers and project teams regarding material requirements and specifications; following up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery to project sites; monitoring pending orders, delivery schedules, and outstanding procurement requirements; verifying delivery notes, invoices, Goods Received Notes or material receipt documents, and purchase orders; coordinating with Accounts regarding supplier invoices and payment documentation; maintaining accurate procurement records, supplier databases, price lists, purchase registers, and delivery logs; assisting in identifying cost-saving opportunities and alternative suppliers; monitoring market prices for construction materials and maintaining competitive supplier rates; promptly resolving supplier, delivery, material, and documentation issues; and preparing regular procurement status reports for management. Applicants should have 2–4 years of relevant experience in procurement or purchasing, preferably within the construction industry, strong knowledge of construction materials, MEP materials, tools, equipment, and consumables, and a good understanding of Requests for Quotation, quotations, Purchase Orders and Local Purchase Orders, delivery notes, Goods Received Notes, invoices, and procurement documentation. Previous experience dealing with Bahrain-based construction suppliers is highly preferred, along with strong negotiation and supplier-management skills, excellent communication, coordination, and follow-up skills, good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail. Experience with ERP or procurement software is an advantage. The candidate must be able to handle multiple purchase requirements and urgent site requirements, work under pressure, and meet project deadlines, and must currently be available in Bahrain. Immediate joiners are strongly preferred. Candidates with previous experience working with construction contractors, fit-out companies, MEP companies, engineering companies, or building material suppliers in Bahrain will be given priority.
