Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven full-time Procurement Officer to manage the end-to-end sourcing and purchasing of foodstuff through international imports and local suppliers in Bahrain. The successful candidate must have a minimum of three years of experience in foodstuff procurement, preferably in Bahrain or the GCC, with proven experience in international food imports and local foodstuff purchasing. Responsibilities include identifying, evaluating, and developing reliable suppliers based on quality, pricing, availability, and delivery requirements; obtaining quotations; negotiating prices and payment terms; ensuring competitive purchasing; preparing and processing accurate purchase orders in compliance with company procedures; coordinating international imports, including shipping schedules, documentation, customs clearance, and delivery; coordinating with suppliers, freight forwarders, clearing agents, warehouses, and internal departments to ensure timely deliveries; monitoring market prices, product availability, and trends to identify cost-saving and sourcing opportunities; ensuring that purchased food products meet required quality, specifications, shelf-life, and regulatory requirements; maintaining strong relationships with existing suppliers while exploring new sourcing opportunities; following up on outstanding orders and resolving shortages, delays, damages, or quality discrepancies; maintaining accurate procurement records, supplier information, quotations, purchase orders, and import documentation; coordinating with finance and accounts teams regarding invoices, payments, and supplier reconciliations; supporting inventory planning by coordinating procurement according to stock levels and business requirements; and ensuring compliance with applicable Bahrain regulations and company policies. Requirements include good knowledge of suppliers, food products, pricing, and market conditions; practical knowledge of import documentation, shipping, customs clearance, and logistics; strong negotiation and supplier-management skills; good communication and coordination abilities; strong organizational skills and attention to detail; the ability to work under pressure and meet purchasing deadlines; good knowledge of Microsoft Office and procurement or inventory systems; a valid Bahrain driving licence, which is an advantage; knowledge of Bahrain food import regulations and requirements, which is preferred; and a good command of English, while Arabic is an advantage. The role also requires competence in supplier sourcing and evaluation, international procurement and imports, local purchasing, price negotiation, cost control, market analysis, import and logistics coordination, inventory planning, vendor relationship management, problem-solving, and decision-making.
