Construction Planning Engineer

Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Construction Planning Engineer to become a vital member of our team. The successful candidate will be entrusted with the responsibility of developing, maintaining, and updating comprehensive project schedules. This role involves closely monitoring construction progress, promptly identifying any delays, and collaborating effectively with project and site teams to ensure that all projects are completed within the established timeframes. Key Responsibilities - Develop, maintain, and regularly update detailed construction schedules utilizing Primavera P6 software. - Prepare various scheduling documents including baseline programs, master schedules, look-ahead schedules, and recovery programs tailored to project needs. - Create Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), define key milestones, and outline project activities critical for schedule development. - Monitor actual site progress continuously and compare it against the approved and baseline schedules. - Identify the causes of delays, recognize critical activities, assess schedule risks, and detect any potential slippage in the project timeline. - Perform thorough analysis of critical paths, calculate float times, and compare planned progress with actual work completed. - Prepare comprehensive daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports detailing the status of construction activities. - Generate S-curves and other progress tracking reports, including manpower and resource monitoring charts, to provide visual performance metrics. - Maintain close coordination with Project Managers, Site Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, subcontractors, consultants, and suppliers to ensure alignment of schedules. - Monitor subcontractor schedules to confirm that their activities are synchronized with the primary project program. - Track procurement processes, manpower allocation, material delivery, and equipment usage to ensure consistency with project requirements. - Develop recovery plans and propose actionable corrective measures for any activities facing delays. - Support delay analysis, preparation of Extension of Time (EOT) claims, and other schedule-related documentation as required. - Attend progress meetings and deliver accurate and timely updates related to planning and scheduling matters. - Maintain comprehensive and organized records of project schedules, progress updates, and all planning-related documentation. - These tasks correspond closely with common expectations for Planning Engineers, particularly within Bahrain’s construction sector, emphasizing expertise in Primavera P6, progress monitoring, baseline schedule preparation, critical path analysis, recovery planning, and detailed reporting. Requirements - Possess a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related discipline. - Have a minimum of 3 to 5 years’ professional experience as a Planning Engineer within the construction industry. - Demonstrate strong experience specifically in building and civil construction projects. - Hold prior GCC construction experience as a mandatory requirement, with preference given to individuals who possess hands-on experience in Bahrain projects. - Exhibit excellent proficiency with Primavera P6 software; familiarity with MS Project will be considered an additional advantage. - Possess a robust understanding of construction sequencing, Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), baseline program preparations, and Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling techniques. - Be experienced in progress monitoring, conducting delay analyses, formulating recovery schedules, and preparing comprehensive project reports. - Be capable of reading, interpreting, and understanding construction drawings, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), and project specifications in detail. - Have good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and the full MS Office suite. - Display strong analytical, organizational, communication, and coordination skills. - Demonstrate the ability to perform effectively under pressure while meeting strict project deadlines. - Be currently residing in Bahrain and immediately available for deployment. - Candidates able to join immediately or within a short notice period are highly preferred. - Candidates holding cancelled or transferable residence visas in Bahrain will be given preference.
