How we measure the Saudi Arabia job market

A vacancy counts when it is active, not expired and publicly visible. Adverts and positions are counted separately: one advert asking for six drivers is one advert and six positions, and the two are never mixed in the same figure.

City figures come from matching the employer's stated location against known Saudi Arabian cities — Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and others — so a vacancy written as "anywhere in the Kingdom" counts in the national total but in no city.

Only adverts where the employer published a SAR range are used — most Saudi Arabia employers keep pay private, so the sample is always a minority of live vacancies, and the share that disclosed pay is stated on the salary pages.

Each advert contributes one figure: the midpoint of its published range. The low, median and high for a sector are the lowest, middle and highest of those midpoints. They describe what was advertised, not what is finally paid after negotiation, and they are basic monthly pay — accommodation, transport and allowances are listed separately on each vacancy.

1. Anything outside 400–60000 SAR a month is not a monthly Saudi Arabia wage and is removed.
2. Anything more than four times away from the middle of its own sector is treated as a probable typo or a daily/annual figure entered as monthly, and is removed.
3. Both are logged for a person to check with the employer rather than silently deleted.
4. A sector is published only once 5 adverts from 2 or more separate sources have stated pay. Repeats of the same advert count once.

Where several vacancies are posted through a single account, separate adverts — not the account — are counted as the separate sources, and the pages say "sources" rather than "employers" for that reason.
